Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit – December 2012

Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit“Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit”    It’s good luck to say “Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit”  the first thing each month.  ColumbusBestBlog.com tries to say it first thing each month. Usually by pre-writing the post.  I started this post last week.  I only got this far:

Rabbits and December?  Time to hibernate little bunnies.  But rabbits  do not hibernate do they?

No.  Rabbits do not hibernate.   I looked it up online.

We went to Columbus Commons last night to see the lights.  And  to experience  Holiday Fair.

2012 is the second annual Holiday Fair at Columbus Commons.  Tonight is the second night.  Lots of lights, a big Christmas tree,  music, fireworks, Carousel, a BIG slide, food trucks (not enough, long lines), a Christmas tree on stilts, ice sculpting, a traditional holiday Alien / UFO bouncy house,  a trackless train, trolley rides around Columbus and a petting zoo with goats, lambs, more goats,  Shetland ponies, more goats, llamas (or perhaps they are alpacas?) more goats,   a baby zebra, more goats and  an “even-toed ungulate within the genus Camelus, bearing distinctive fatty deposits known as humps on its back.”

One hump or two?

One hump.

I believe he is a young Dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius) I got some help online for that. I am quoting Wikipedia.

The lights at Columbus Commons continue through the holidays but tonight, December 1, 2012  is the last night of the Holiday Fair.  No more camel, Christmas tree on stilts,  etc. after tonight.  There is a $5 charge for a wrist band for some of the stuff like the big slide (we did not.)  Kid stuff.   There were alcoholic beverages. Adult stuff…  but we did not.  We got there at about  5:45, 5:50 and found street parking two blocks up Rich Street so the evening cost us a quarter.  Columbus parking meters , or this Columbus meter anyway only needed to be plugged until 6 PM.  Magical.

We walked over to see the lights at the Scioto Mile too.  It was a beautiful night.  The lights were beautiful at the Scioto Mile.  Santa was magically at the Scioto Mile  as well last night.   The Grand Illumination of the Scioto Mile was Friday too. We looked at lights on the Scioto Mile and then we went back to Columbus Commons.

The Columbus Commons site says the food trucks at the Holiday Fair are “Rich’s Grilled Pizza, Cheesy Street, Los Jalapenos and Hungry Monkey Food Truck.”  Alcohol at the Holiday Fair was a Friday night phenomenon only.   There are fireworks again tonight, December 1, 2012 according to the Columbus Commons website.
