Happy New Year Columbus!

Happy Chinese New Year 4706!

Happy Chinese New Year… video of “2008 Chinese New Year Festival opening ceremony ‘Lion dance’  held in Columbus, Ohio.”

…Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. When twelve animals showed up he named a year after each animal. People born in the year are supposed to have some of that animal’s personality, this is the year of the rat…

Rats are…

Last year was the year of the Pig, the year before the year of the Dog…

Others Rooster, Tiger, Monkey, Snake, Ox? I’m doing better here than I did when I wrote about this on Discover Columbus but I still can’t remember all of the animals in the Chinese Zodiac.

I am a Rat. This is supposed to be an auspicious year for me.

I’ll leave it to you to figure out which Rat year I was born in…

According to a Chinese Zodiac site yoy were born in one of these:

Jan.31,1900 to Feb.19,1901
Feb.18,1912 to Feb.06,1913
Feb.05,1924 to Jan.24,1925
Jan.24,1936 to Feb.10,1937
Feb.10,1948 to Feb.14,1949
Jan.28,1960 to Feb.14,1961
Jan.16,1972 to Feb.02,1973

gosh shouldn’t there be a couple more… like c. 1985… c. 1998… I better go see if I cut something off… or maybe it is an Adult Only Chinese Zodiac site… eeek I posted a link on ActiveRain.

Have an auspicious year Tina…which one would make you about 25 years old…

You are so generous, Maureen. Well, at least I *feel* about 25!

I did cut one off… of this list, added it back in on my post about Chinese New Year on ActiveRain.

I would think kids would be attracted to Chinese New Year… even more than adults. I would want the latest years possible, wonder where the site I linked to got their years….

I had someone comment on my AR post about the Chinese NY that I went to kindergarten with… confused over what sign he is. I assume he is about my age… I can’t remember his birthday… I do remember one of his birthday parties… I think before kindergarten. Or maybe it was his birthday the year we were in kindergarten. I commented back “Don’t shout out the year” when I tried to answer what Chinese Zodiac character he is. I am a dog so he is probably a dog, or a rooster or a pig…

I will appreciate his generosity in hiding our age. 39 works for me…
