My point is that smaller cities do have Mardi Gras parades - St. Louis has TWO of them!

And the St. Patrick's Day parade in Columbus is awful. In Buffalo the St. Patrick's day parade draws more than 100,000 people. Other than Red, White & Boom and New Year's Eve, downtown action is dull.

Even events like the Rib Fest and ComFest are pretty small compared to similar events in Cleveland, Milwaukee, Buffalo, etc., cities of comparable size to Columbus.

Why would anyone expect a Mardi Gras parade in Columbus?

If you expect Columbus to have parades like NYC, Chicago or any city with a great deal of tourism you are set for some disappointment, fella but thanks for the comment. St. Patrick's Day, the parade at Red, White and Boom, the Veterans Day Parade... Columbus has parades appropriate to it's size IMHO. The Doo Dah parade is my favorite Columbus parade.

Don't let it surprise you that the Chinese New Year starts on the 7th of February you aren't going to see a dragon dancing down Broad St. in Columbus either...

Why are there no Mardi Gras celebrations in Columbus?

Not a single parade or big party.

In fact, why aren't there ANY big parades in Columbus?

Columbus is a crappy party town. (Outside of OSU students, that is)
