Wet Basement Quiz Questions 5 & 6

by Maureen McCabe on January 25, 2008

This series has not been as much fun as I thought it would be. Oh well…

I can’t post the questions 5 and 6…. it is just too much… It’s too spammy that they are the only one for the job… it’s came from an email spam after all. Super Dry Basement guy (he’s got kind of a superman thing going on on the website) wrote the book on “Super Dry Basements”

Here’s a synopsis…

Don’t Use a GC

Don’t use a handy man

Don’t use anyone unless they are “COMMERCIAL” like us…

We use STUFF they can’t buy…

I showed a property with a wet basement recently… or maybe a formerly wet basement… there may be some moisture coming in the walls is a better description. It just was not a pretty basement but we looked at the property three times. He wanted to get input from a family member and a friend about that basement. Last night the buyer told me he’d ruled it out.

We’d asked some questions about the basement and got no response.

Nice place. Ugly basement.

I kind of liked the series. But, I am obsessed a bit about the care of my property.

We have to get our crawl spaces taken care of now anticipating radon removal and have had bad luck with the usual basement people. I want the spaces filled and leveled with pea gravel. The basement companies simply want to cap the misshapen lumps in the crawl space and will not do the gravel thing. What are these guys, neurosurgeons? I’m not asking them to do it free. Kind of irritating. Going to have to find a general contractor with a strong crew.

Thanks for your vote of support. Maybe it’s timing… maybe I am doing it wrong… boring.

I was looking at question number seven today and thinking about trashing the series… wall anchors… boring…

I talked to Nick Sung yesterday… I think home inspection blogging should be soooo interesting to consumers… I was not talking to Nick about blogging, but about an inspection he’d done.
