The official word in my mailbox from the Columbus Board of REALTORS® says “Central Ohio ends summer with rising sales and prices”
- Sales are up.
- Prices are up.
- Inventory is down.
- Days on market is down.
The official word from the Columbus Board of REALTORS on the real estate market in the CBR mls (Columbus Board of REALTORS® multiple listing service) :
“Higher prices, low rates and lower inventory proved to be an exceptional environment for home sellers this summer,” said Jim Coridan, 2012 President of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®. “But the strongest factor was and continues to be the abundance of motivated buyers in the market today.”
I saw the NAR (National Association of REALTORS ®) report on Facebook moments before I went looking for the CBR (Columbus Board of REALTORS®) report on Facebook and then visited my mailbox to make sure as a CBR member I had received the information.
Rising sale prices... home prices
NAR usually talks median prices while I have always been more into average prices because the Columbus Board of REALTORS mls used average.
You can see reports on my two real estate sites (in the sidebar here) if you are looking for something more local. DiscoverColumbusOH.com (northern Franklin County and southern Delaware County) and WorthingtonOldAndNews.com have August 2012 market reports closer to home:
- Franklin County
- Delaware County
- Big Walnut schools
- Columbus schools
- Dublin schools
- Olentangy schools
- Worthington schools
- Columbus, Ohio 43235

The market reports scroll through the sidebars on ColumbusBestBlog.com expect to see Hilliard, Westerville, Buckeye Valley school districts and Lewis Center and Powell yet this month. Zip codes? Maybe. Others for August 2012 will display for the next few weeks… depending on time. The August 2012 reports on those two sites will not match the results CBR issues. CBR uses residential sales in the Columbus Board of REALTORS® mls (multiple listing service.) I have focused on single family resale results. Occasionally I look at condominiums separately. The August 2012 real estate market reports on the two real estate sites focus on sales price. I got a rhythm going. September, the report will focus on sales. The graphic created on the market reports show the past 15 months. So when I start looking at September on about October 7th or 8th the green market report graphs will show August 2012 home sales… and July, June, May, etc.
