1941 at Columbus, Ohio Airport-CMH

I love this photo. Read the write up on Don O’Brien’s Flicker entry.

Isn’t this photo of the Columbus Ohio airport, known as “Port Columbus” or simply CMH like something out of a movie?

We went to brunch at The 94th Aero Squadron in September. Perhaps in part because of seeing this photo that Dok1 (Don O’Brien on Flickr) added to his Flickr photostream in August 2010.

I took some photos of the props on their grounds; planes, trucks, a bike but the photos of the Columbus restaurant and those of Port Columbus turned out bad. We’ll have to go back so I can try again.

Unfamiliar with the 94th Aero Squadron? It is a restaurant at Port Columbus with World War I and World War II memorabilia. Built between the runways you can sometimes see today’s airplanes up close and personal.

Still not quite like the description O’Brien shares of real life in 1941 at the Columbus airport.
