Ohio to send someone to Washington DC

by Maureen McCabe on March 8, 2010

A statue of someone from Ohio is going to Washington DC to represent the state in the Capital Hall of Statuary with James Garfield.  Each state has two statues.   It is down to 10 finalists to replace the statue of an Ohioan who is being sent home…

Legacy For Ohio lists the finalists:
01. James M. Ashley
02. Thomas Edison
03. Ulysses S. Grant
04. William McCulloch
05. Jesse Owens
06. Judith Resnik
07. Albert Sabin
08. Harriet Beecher Stowe
09. Harriet Taylor Upton
10. Orville and Wilbur Wright (counted as one)

The names on the list on their site are links just in case you don’t recognize one or two or three or four or more of the names… I thought I did NOT recognize one but I do.  From when I lived in Akron…  but need to look at… goodness, entirely too many.

The voting will start March 20, 2010.   There is a list of polling places.  The Ohio Historical Society and the State House look like it for Central Ohio…
