Change Columbus to Scotto?

by Maureen McCabe on March 11, 2009

Christopher Columbus real name was “Pedro Scotto”  and he  was a Scotsman not Spanish or Italian according to a Spanish historian.

It says so on  the Telegraph.co.uk in an article titled “Christopher Columbus was actually a Scotsman called Pedro Scotto, historian says”

The name Columbus came from Vincenzo Columbus a  pirate he once worked for.  He  ( I don’t know whether to call him Scotto or Columbus now) had light hair and eyes.  The 15th century explorer had freckles.

Will there be kilts and bagpipes in the Columbus Day Parade?  Wait we don’t have a Columbus Day Parade!

Is the Columbus Dispatch on this story?
