Best Columbus Steakhouse?

by Maureen McCabe on February 9, 2009

According to City’s BEST the best Columbus Steakhouse in 2008 was Mitchell’s Steakhouse.  Actually the Mitchell’s Steakhouse in downtown Columbus… won the competition…  I am more of a seafood eater most of the time but there’s something about Valentine’s Day that makes me hungry for red meat.

Whose steaks do you love BEST in Central Ohio? It’s a poll.

Choose “Other” if my choices don’t “do it”  for you on my Meat Lovers Poll

Mitchell Steakhouse (website music alert…the Sound Off button to turn it off is on the top right.)

  • Downtown
  • Polaris

Gee I almost forgot Cameron Mitchell’s  (Music alert sound button same deal) sold Mitchell’s Steakhouse and Columbus Fish Market to Ruth Chris or is just the Columbus Fish Market Ruth Chris and Mitchell’s Steakhouse a joint venture…

I don’t think I have ever been to the Mitchell’s Steakhouse downtown. I have never been to the Mitchell’s at Polaris… but I ate at the Mitchell’s Steakhouse in Crosswoods a number of times over the years.. and have fond memories of steak, sides and deserts…

Hyde Park Grill

  • Columbus Dublin
    • Columbus Downtown

(Short North?)

  • Columbus Upper Arlington
  • Columbus Worthington

I have been to Hyde Park but have NEVER been to the one in Worthington…

Morton’s Columbus* the one and only is downtown Columbus at 280 North High Street Columbus, OH 43215

The Clarmont* (music alert… not sure where I found the button… actually if you click off the home page the music stops. Or click on the far button on the slide too I think…)

Is The Clarmont the only steakhouse in my poll here that is NOT a chain???  Located just south of downtown,  The Clarmont’s   address is 684 S High St Columbus, Ohio 43215, in German Village, it is probably the Columbus Steakhouse that I have eaten at most despite it being the furthest away for me.

I was going to include Ruth Chris since it is in my stomping grounds (North Columbus,  Crosswoods, Worthington, Polaris) but since I have never eaten there and have Mitchell’s Steakhouse Columbus in my poll… I took it off my poll.)

Other newer Central Ohio steak places?

Eddie Merlot (Polaris area…)

Other old places?

Or does Longhorn and Outback do it for you? Or is something Asian with knives flying through the air better for you?  Japanese Steakhouse downtown Columbus?  The one in Polaris on Sancus?  Is the new Benihana at Polaris Fashion place open yet?

* Edit January 2013 both the Clarmont and Mortons are gone, so I have closed the links

i went here on march 18th 2009. the average price for dinner is 27.00 the drinks are 250 each if you want steamed rice its free. but fried rice is 350 extra.
i have to say this food was junk. the sauce taste just like bigmac sauce. between 4 adults and 4 kids they cut up 1 zuccinni and 5 onions for our vegies. i had about 1/4 cup of onions in my plate. the rice was raw even though he fried it on the grill . the grill was way to hot. the rice taste burnt. and if you are looking for entertainment this is not the place. they are not allowed to do fire tricks at all. they dont joke with you at all . i have been to many of these place around ohio . and this was the worst. my soup was cold. my sushi was hot. the pop was watered down. the food it self was served in the wrong order. vegies. rice shrimp. steak . then chicken then three mushrroms. between 8 people.
allthough everything was completely discusting it was served witha asmile. they are very polite when giving out their garbage. and even happier to give you $215.00 check.

Thanks. I believe Sheba’s comment refers to the new Benihana Restaurant at Polaris? I can see that when I look at the comment on the editor on my blog, but for some reason that does not show up in the comment. I wondered if she posted it on the wrong entry but I don’t remember blogging about Benihana here.

Oh there it is “Is the new Benihana at Polaris Fashion place open yet?”

I guess so.

Via email the comment read even more bizarre…. without a clue about which steakhouse she was talking about.

Again Thanks for the comment…

Sheba wrote in benihanapolaris as her email or her website? This along with her IP (ID of computer she is sending comment from) is in the comment in the editor:

There is only one Benihana in town. Sheba is bad mouthing the new Benihana Restaurant at Polaris NOT the restaurant in the poll that is at Polaris. Haven’t eaten there so can’t comment. Sheba seems to NOT be a fan of Benihana.

Last line of the post says “Is the new Benihana at Polaris Fashion place open yet?”
