I have a listing right near Bob’s Bar the self proclaimed ‘Cultural Hub of the Midwest ‘ but I never thought I would actually go into Bob’s Bar…. for so many reasons. I was surprised when a co-worker sent the whole office an email on Friday morning saying “be there or be square” about Bob’s Bar.
The Cultural Hub of the Midwest is one of ’365 Things To Do In Columbus Ohio.’
The “be there or be square” was about meeting at the north Columbus bar for happy hour.
I have a picture of the Bob’s Bar sign in a previous post about my listing at 301 Girard Rd. Columbus OH 43214. Bob’s Bar is walking distance to that home. An easy walk.
Why I never thought I would actually set foot in Bob’s Bar… “The Cultural Hub of the Midwest”
- I don’t go to “bars”
- I am not a beer drinker.
- A series of funny YELP reviews. The YELP reviews made me expect a dirty place with snotty, immature clientele and bad service. Lots of the reviews used the word “Dive.”
Bob’s Bar is at 4961 N. High St. Columbus Ohio 43214. It is just south of Graceland, north of Morse Road. It is nicer inside than you would expect.
I was pleasantly surprised by Bob’s Bar. Only five of us showed up. The rest of the Real Living HER Worthington office are squares? To be fair it was the second “Happy Hour” with the office we were invited to this week. The first “Happy Hour” someone in my office mentioned this week was in Powell…which while nice is certainly not The Cultural Hub of the Midwest, like Bob’s Bar.
This was posted previously on DiscoverColumbusOH.com Columbus real estate, a separate site. There is more detail there about the funny YELP reviews…

Did Vince Orsatti show up?
Nope.
Maureen, you have to admit that Bob’s was FUN! It was friendly, comfortable, nice music, and the Pita Hut was next door! I love Bob’s Bar! The beers were cold and the prices were good for domestic. And, free popcorn! Bob’s has two pool tables and dart boards and trivia game machines. What more could a stressed out Realtor want??
There’s no denying Bob’s was lots of fun… Perhaps it was the company?
Bob’s was just much nicer than I ever imagined from the outside and from the funny Yelp reviews.
