Things to do in Columbus… Politics? Ugh!

by Maureen McCabe on July 26, 2012

Ohio Statehouse

Things to do in Columbus coming up?  Politics? Ugh!   Isn’t talking politics… dangerous? Isn’t talking politics dangerous like playing with fire?  I avoid politics like the plague.

This is different, just yesterday Winston Blair from North Carolina shared an event that will be a ‘Thing to do in Columbus, Ohio’ next week.  Winston wrote “One thing to do in Columbus, Ohio this year is to attend the American Political Items Collectors national convention, which is coming to Columbus next week, July 30-Aug 4 at the Crowne Plaza North hotel off Doubletree Avenue in northern Columbus. It’s open to the public Thursday, Aug 2 9:00-5:00, Friday August 3 from 12-5, and Saturday Aug 4 from 10-2. Come see thousands of presidential and political memorabilia items!”

Actually old political items sound interesting.   And it’s the NATIONAL convention in Columbus?  That’s kind of cool.

Winston posted this as a ‘Post by Others’ on the Facebook ’365 Things to do in Columbus Ohio (http://facebook.com/365Columbus) page.  Thanks for adding this event Winston!

Have things to do in Columbus you want to share with others?  Share them on the Facebook page.

Speaking of playing with fire…  WaterFire tomorrow,   Friday, July 27th The Reaganomics are performing… on the Scioto in downtown Columbus.

Summer is for Fairs, Festivals and Food

This is  still Restaurant Week  more about Fairs, Festivals and Food, the Ohio State Fair started yesterday.  The Saturday morning Farmers Markets can be fun.   There are Saturday morning Farmer’s Markets in Clintonville and Worthington as well as the North Market.

Festivals – July 27th and 28th are Immaculate Conception Parish’s Festival in Clintonville…  as long as we are talking politics we might as well talk religion too.  Although I don’t think of Parish Festivals as being religious.  I think of Parish Festivals being  neighborhood celebrations.  There is a link to the 2012 Columbus Parish Festivals in the link above.   This weekend,  Friday and Saturday is also the St. Margaret of Cortona Parish Festival, a west-side Columbus neighborhood.

Friday and Saturday this weekend is Picnic with the Pops at Columbus Commons.  There are lots more events and other things to do going on in Columbus this weekend and next week.  Use ExperienceColumbus.com to find things to do.  Use the ExperienceColumbus.com site to find details about things to do in Columbus and central Ohio.
