There are some events in Central Ohio Sunday, in remembrance of September 11, 2001.

Columbus,  Ohio – Heroes Helping Humanity

A walk and ceremony in remembrance of September 11, sponsored by Heroes Helping Humanity a non-profit organization founded by Jason Thomas.  Jason Thomas who now lives in Central Ohio was at the World Trade Center and involved in rescue efforts in September 2001.

The walk is at 9:00 a.m. and the ceremony is at 10:00 a.m.  The Heroes Helping Humanity event is at Huntington Park this year.  Huntington Park, 330 Huntington Park Lane, Columbus, Ohio 43215

Dublin, Ohio  – Field of Honor

Gahanna, Ohio – 9/11 Walk to Remember

The 9/11 Walk to Remember is at 123 Mill St.Gahanna Ohio 43230.  The Gahanna website says:

“The program begins at 8:30am and the walk promptly at 8:46am. “

Proceeds of the 5k walk are going to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

Hilliard, Ohio -Memorial Ceremony – First Responders Park

Hilliard events include:

Dedication of Ground Zero Flag Pole at 9:00 a.m.
Service of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m.

Plain Township  – Memorial

The Plain Township (New Albany area) website says:

“September 11, 2001 Memorial: In remembrance of the 343 + 2 Fire Department of New York  Firefighters that died in the line of duty on September 11, 2001 the Plain Township Fire Department will display one United State flag  in memory of each life lost. The community is welcome to visit the memorial. The flags will be installed on Saturday September 10, 2011 in the field south of the fire station.”

Westerville, Ohio – Westerville Remembers

“Join our first responders, Westerville Police/Fire Chaplain Corps, The Ohio Patriot Guard and fellow citizens as we remember those who lost their lives during the events of September 11th 2001.”

The Westerville, Ohio ten year Anniversary Observance starts at 2:00 p.m. at First Responders Park, 374 W. Main St.

Worthington, Ohio – Patriots Day

The observance begins at  12:45 p.m. on the northwest Village Green.

“It will include remarks from Lima Company Commander Major William Brubaker, Worthington Police and Fire, patriotic music and participation in the National Moment of Remembrance at 1:00 p.m.”


Do you know of other municipal events?

Churches and other organizations in Central Ohio will have events  including:

“Sunday, September 11, 2011: A Day to Gather Together in Remembrance & Reflection” at Broad Street Presbyterian Church in downtown Columbus.  In addition to services Sunday morning, the church at 760 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205 has a pot luck brunch at noon and at 4:00 p.m.a performance of Mozart’s Requiem.

Maureen, Sounds like there are plenty of way to commemorate Sept 11 in Columbus. The same is true here in Albuquerque. Mostly I’m just hoping for a quiet day with no incidents.
