Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit – July 2013

“Rabbitrabbits Ohio State Fair, Rabbit, Rabbit”

It’s July and ColumbusBestBlog.com tries to say “Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit”   first thing each month.

July – The Ohio State Fair starts

The rabbit’s pictured are long gone…  they were at the Ohio State Fair in 2007?  Or perhaps it was 2008.

The 2013 Ohio State Fair is coming up in July.   The Ohio State Fair starts July 24 and runs through August 4, 2013 in Columbus.  According to the Ohio State Fair’s website, the first Ohio State Fair was in Cinci and in the early days the fair was moved around the state.   Since 1886 the Ohio State Fair  has been held at it’s present site.

“Finally, in 1886, the Fair moved to its current home at what is now called the Ohio Expo Center. The main entrance to the site was at the southwest corner of the grounds along Woodward Avenue. “

4th of July Celebrations

Columbus July 2013 events include Red, White & Boom on the 3rd.    There are fireworks in Clintonville, Dublin, Hilliard,  Westerville, Worthington and other communities on the 4th and my favorite, the Doodah Parade on the 4th.

Worthington and Westerville do not have their 4th of July festivities on ExperienceColumbus.com this year (Dublin, Hilliard and other central Ohio communities do…) I don’t find Clintonville ( a Columbus Neighborhood)  events on the ExperienceColumbus.com event calendar either…

There is a 5K on the 4th in Clintonville and more…

For info on the Worthington Family Picnic and 4th of July fireworks visit  the official Worthington site http://www.worthington.org/   lots of details on where you can NOT park. You can see the Worthington 4th of July Fireworks from the front lawn of the Thomas Worthington High School where the Worthington Family Picnic is held and from the TWHS stadium.

The events calendar on the City of Westerville website (http://www.westerville.org)  says

“The fireworks will be launched from Alum Creek Park South near Park Meadow Road and Schrock Road and can be seen from multiple, convenient locations around the City.”

The Doodah Parade is July 4, 2013 in the Short North and Victorian Village.  The Doodah Parade route is from Goodale  to Buttles to Neil to Second to High to Russell.   There is a FREE party Thursday, July 3, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Goodale Park too.

Want to be in the Doodah Parade? The Doodah Parade http://www.doodahparade.com/ site says

“Bring your best satire-face, strange attitude, and outrageous outlook on life, and march with others jut like you!”

Upper Arlington and Hilliard have more traditional parades for the 4th of July.

More things to do in Columbus Ohio -  July 2013

The Short North Arts District’s July 2013 Gallery Hop is Saturday, July 6, 2013.

The Jazz & Rib Fest is July 19 to 21.

According to Columbus Recreation and Parks Department “July is National Recreation and Parks Month”  and if I’m not mistaken July is National Ice Cream Month… as good an excuse as any to eat some Jeni’s.

Finishing up June business for ColumbusBestBlog.com there is a raffle for Firehouse Sub that ends today.
