Ohio Contest Celebrity Judges

by Maureen McCabe on March 19, 2009

Did you get an opportunity to vote on YouTube for the best Ohio Music Video in the Discover Ohio Video Challenge? Voting was open through March 18, 2009. Yesterday.

I wrote about the contest previously, Columbus Music Video

* Anthony Russo (Director) “You, Me, & Dupree”, (Writer) “Welcome To Collinwood”
* Bob Hoch (Senior Director of Digital Marketing), Sony Music
* Brad Petrigala (Manager) Brillstein Entertainment Partners
* Chad Lowe (Actor) “Unfaithful”, (Producer) “Beautiful Ohio”
* Don Scott (Writer) “Barbershop”, “Barbershop 2: Back in Business”
* Joe Russo (Director) “You, Me, & Dupree”, (Writer) “Welcome To Collinwood”
* Mark Johnson (Producer) “The Chronicles of Narnia”
* Michael Peyser (Producer) “U2 3D”
* Todd Longwell (Writer) The Hollywood Reporter

I recognize one judges name… Chad Lowe… I recognize more of the movies…

Wait Don Scott don’t we have an airport named after him? Or previously named after him… or named after someone who was named the same as him. I have always assumed the airport in northwest Columbus was named after someone in the aviation industry in Ohio.. or in aviation education. Airports get named after people like Rickenbacker or Billy Mitchell… or they did the OSU Airport.… Or should that be THE OSU Airport? Or THE Ohio State University Airport… is that airport sill known as Don Scott just in my memory?

I think I know which video is going to win…
I think I know…
I think I know…
I am going to confide in my dear friend Teri Lussier over in Dayton.. she will tell you if I am right after the decision is made…

Did you look at the videos? Do you think you know? Whisper it in Teri’ Lussier’s ear...  Teri’ll keep a secret.

I still haven’t seen them all, but I am quite impressed with the talent that I have seen. The song says Cleveland Rocks, but from what I’ve seen, the entire state of Ohio does a pretty good job of rocking!

I did watch them ALL. There’s a couple of stinkers there. There are a few that are really, really good though. I’ll whisper it here…I was going to whisper it on your site. I am no celebrity judge…nor do I know much about music or videos but the Dayton flick oughta win. All the things that went right over my head when I first saw the video with the airplane, birthplace of aviation, that you mentioned on my AR blog are true.

It is a great video…the aerial views of the cornfields, even if I could not identify with the Schuster Center the seens of him there were intriguing. It is just another silly love song, that is why my favorite is Visitor….

I was watching that video again and I was thinking that they picked the absolute worst time of year to do this. Late Feb and early March are so gray in Ohio. The grass is still dormant, the trees have no leaves, the cornfields are fallow. ugh.

Ah well. Perhaps next year they’ll pay more attention to those pesky details.

The Schuster Center is spectacular all the way around- outside and inside, and the ceiling being painted, or lit? like the sky was lit during the Wright Bros. first flight… It’s an awesome place to be sure. If you’ve ever been to the Aronoff Center in Cincy- the same architect designed both.

I noticed it, thought about it and decided the timing was great. I love that it is so dead looking in the Dayton video and in Visitor…
