Dublin Irish Festival 2013

This year we went to the Irish Festival on Friday night.  Most years we go to the Dublin Irish Festival on Sunday.

Saturday at the Dublin Irish Festival 2013

I wish I could go back to the Dublin Irish Festival this weekend.  I would love to hear Carlos Nunez preform.  If I could go today Sunday I would also listen to Gaelic Storm perform. I’d also be tempted to go listen to the Red Hot Chili Pipers  just because I like their name.  We saw Natalie Mac Master perform Friday night.  She is on the entertainment schedule both Saturday and Sunday at the 2013 Dublin Irish Festival.

Sunday is the Best Legs in a Kilt contest…  there are fun things to do each day.  Things like story telling, music, dancing, more story telling, history, a big gathering of  red heads, more story telling.

St Patrick

St. Patrick told a story about Wolfhounds on Friday evening.

Dublin Irish Festival Get in FREE on Sunday*

The image here is from the Dublin Irish Festivals Facebook page by way of the ’365 Things to do in Columbus Ohio’ page on Facebook.  Get to the Dublin Irish Festival by 11 AM with a donation for the local food pantry and you get in for free.  Remember to allow enough time for parking and getting into the park on foot or by shuttle if you are trying to get to a service.

Most years we go to church at the Killian’s Celtic Rock Stage at the Dublin Irish Festival.  That is the Celtic Rock Stage on the top.    We went to the Irish Mass one year, long ago.

*If you go for Sunday services bring a non perishable food item to donate to the Dublin Food Pantry.  Donations collected at the Sunday services go to the Dublin Food pantry too.

Sunday Services at the Dublin Irish Festival are not just for Christians anymore

There is a Druid Service this year.  I believe this is the first year there is  a Druid Service.

  • Celtic Contemporary Service
  • Druid Service
  • Interdenominational Service
  • Irish Mass
  • Episcopal U2Charist
  • Traditional Mass

There are 7 church services  this year (two traditional masses.)   There are seven stages, seven services this year, click on a service on the Dublin Irish Festival site  and it tells you details, including the time and stage.

Celtic Dogs at the Dublin Irish Festival 2013

Emmet the Wolfhound

The Celtic Dogs are one of my favorite things each year.  Friday evening we saw Wolfhounds including Emmet here, a three year old 160 pound fella.  We also saw Soft Coated Wheaton Terriers, an Irish Terrier and a couple of Glen of Imaal Terriers, one sweet fella named Conan, I believe.  I have some photos of Conan.
