Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show and More…

by Maureen McCabe on February 23, 2013

The Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show starts today.  The “and More…” is other things that are going on in Columbus this weekend.

Fred Flinstone at the 2011 Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show

The Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show starts today, Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to  8:00 p.m. The Columbus Dispatch says:

“The shows runs daily except Monday through March 3.”

What can you expect at the Home & Garden Tour?  Home improvement, remodeling, design, DIY and lots of landscaping.  The plants and landscaping are what I love at the Home & Garden Show.  I saw a few home builders I recognized… it looked as if they are there more for remodeling business than building… maybe not.   I did not make it to the Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show in 2012 but who was there and what they were “selling” was of interest to me in 2011.

Details about the 2013 Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show are on the site.

$12 adult admission  ($1 coupon on the Dispatch Events site)
$5 parking
children under 12 are free

The 2013 Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show’s “special attractions,” hours, special days, live broadcasts and discount admission opportunities are all available on the site.   The $1.00 discount coupon benefits Nationwide Children’s Hospital with the Columbus Dispatch matching the coupon.    The event is at the Ohio Expo Center (at the Ohio State Fairgrounds) 717 E. 17th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211.    Did you know that on Sunday, March 3, 2013 the last day there is a ‘final-day plant sale beginning at 5 p.m.”  Every year?  The photo above is from the 2011 Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show.  Wonder if anyone bought the Fred Flintstone on a dinosaur for their back yard.

Yesterday I saw a  great time-lapse video on the Columbus Dispatch site. The video was from start to finish setting up the 2013 show.

“and More”

A Westerville food tour!  It’s this afternoon.  I saw it on and added it on the ’365 Things to do in Columbus Ohio’ Facebook page.  I do not know if there are still tickets available or not for today.  The tour is  “When the Spirits Move You” Tour from A La Carte Food Tours.    The good news is there are  future tour dates for this Westerville history / culinary tour.  Future dates for this Westerville, Ohio event are:365 Things to do in Columbus Ohio on Facebook

“May 18, 2013
June 29, 2013
August 10, 2013
September 28, 2013  “

according to the A La Carte Food Tours site.   The temperance movement was very strong in Westerville.  Or did the Temperance Movement start in Westerville?  Not drinking, not allowing others to drink was big in Westerville, way back when.   Westerville was still “dry”  until less than 10 years ago, I believe.   Part of the tour is a visit to the Anti Saloon League Museum in Westerville.   The “When the Spirits Move You” tour  is “a three hour tour”

Things to do in Grandview (which is not related to ’365 Things to do in Columbus Ohio except by a Facebook “Like” ) shared these things to do at the Grandview Theatre yesterday:

“Saturday at 9pm, CLASSIC WHO continues with THE TALONS OF WENG-CHIANG starring TOM BAKER! FREE!

Then Sunday night we’re screening THE OSCARS! Doors open at 6pm, free admission, but please, no outside food or drink.”

Grandview Theatre had a Friday night thing to do too… Karaoke, no cover.

There are lots of things to do in central Ohio this weekend.  I should be at the Worthington Farmers Market this morning…  The best place to find things to do in central Ohio  is the Event Calendar on    If my Friday Fish Fry post had published on Thursday as planned or I’d noticed it was missing before midnight life on Saturday morning would be different for me.

If you have “Things to do” you want to share with people you can share them on Facebook on the ’365 Things to do in Columbus Ohio’  page.  If I am able to share them on a timely basis they could end up on ColumbusBestBlog. com .
