Captive in Columbus… Captive in Cow-Town…
“Why do people call Columbus a Cow – Town?”
Warning the answer to the question by Buck someone who surely must be being held captive in Columbus may not be funny to everyone…
Buck who answered the question today starts out:
“I have traveled and lived in may states, however, unfortunately, I have spent the last twenty years in Columbus, the Capitol of West Virginia, which is located in central Ohio.”
Buck goes on to say that a large number of people who work in Columbus commute back to West Virginia on weekends?
Really? I never knew…. I don’t think in nearly 20 years living in Columbus I have run into anyone who lives in Columbus during the work week and commutes back to any other state on the weekends.
Am I sensing a lack of respect for people from West Virginia? Lest anyone outside Ohio be confused, Columbus is the capitol of the state of Ohio. While I chuckled at some of what “Buck” wrote some of it is probably offensive for people from West Virginia. People who live in Central Ohio weekdays and weekends.
You can vote for Trulia answers. For the “best answer” to a question. Or maybe only the person asking the question gets to say what answer is best… but I’d vote for Buck’s answer on sheer entertainment value and creativity.
Thinks Columbus is a nice place to live? Think again… you’ve been brain washed by developers and real estate companies. Buck writes:
“I attribute this to the influence that the local developers and real estate companies have on the local media. They basically do not want to loose money from people moving away from Columbus. So they brain wash its citizens into believing that Columbus is the best place in the world to live and that the OSU Football Team is the greatest in the world.”
When I moved to Columbus I did not take the required brain washing course for real estate licensees. I’d never heard of it until now.
People are regularly allowed to move out of the city of Columbus to Cinci, Cleveland, Toledo, Akron and even outside state lines. Ohio being the state here. Real Living HER and all of our competitors have healthy relocation companies… inbound and outbound.
Real Living HER relocation could help Buck escape Columbus.
Thanks to Linda Davis a REALTOR® in Eastern CT. for an email alerting me to a funny answer about a dumb, old question on Trulia.com Voices about Columbus. There is a long story about the question… or group of questions including the Columbus Cow- Town question. I am not calling Laurie Manny from Long Beach who asked the “Cow-Town” question dumb.
OK captives look into my eyes and repeat after me:
Columbus is the BEST place in the world to live…
Columbus is the BEST place in the world to live…
Columbus is the BEST place in the world to live…

Why a cowtown? In all seriousness, and with no disrespect meant one reason may be the OSU farm on Lane Avenue, where one can gaze upon dairy cows in the fields and see the Columbus skyline. I like seeing that, and just noticed some cows on a large lawn on Hague Avenue this week!
That was what I answered on the Trulia.com question Ed. My answer to Laurie's question is the first.
I am more familiar with the cow herd you see on 161 in Linworth and Sawmill and I think those are beef cows and the dairy herd is the one down on Lane Ave. I researched it once and blogged about their locations on my original blog? Or maybe it is here somewhere.
I miss the herd that was on the corner of Hard Road and Linworth now that that area has been developed. They were beef cows and I am more fond of the look of dairy cows personally.
Real cows on Hague Ave? Or faux cows?
Maybe Buck is not into the picturesque cows you can find in our fair city and just wanted to vent his spleen on Trulia.com. It made me laugh…
Thanks for the comment now repeat after me "Columbus is the BEST place in in the world to live… "
Ha, should have clicked the link first!
Those were real cows on Hague. I'll have to drive by there again and take a closer look. There are also cows on Fisher Road, before you get to Hague and I-70
Actually Maureen I am the one who sent you the email. I sent it to Linda Davis as well.
Thanks for sending it out Laurie.
You sent it to a large group of people. I never saw the email from you and just went back through my email to make sure it was not there. The email I have is a reply from Linda Davis. Maybe my email thought your email was SPAM. I did not notice it in the spam filter yesterday, but I was not really looking for it. Not sure why my email would let Linda’s “reply all” through and not your original email.
Sorry I had not read the email carefully to see that it was a response to an email from you. The clever email comments about being “captive” are you not Linda.
So I don't miss the weather – but I tell you what – best friends I ever made are in Columbus. =)
Our weather is the most stressful thing about Columbus according to
some list. FORBES? other cities have lack of jobs, crime … Columbus
has gray skies.
Did you see the second comment he left?
nope….
well where is my reply? I replied to this. I thought.
went and read… from the last sentence it seems like he is going to keep up his monologue. Funny stuff, well what I read…. was funny in an offensive slamming Columbus kind of way.
I subscribed to that conversation.
We do have a COW TOWN WV…..near WESTON……
You do have a Cow Town! Cow Town WV is 4 hours and 9 minutes away or 4 hours and 6 minutes away depending on the route you take from Columbus OH.
Thanks Charles.
In Cow Town schools we are taught the 3 "R"'s. Reading Riteing and the ROUTE to Columbus. I spent a year in Columbus one day…..
