Westerville and Gahanna – Top 100 US Cities (Small Cities)

by Maureen McCabe on July 24, 2007

CNNMoney.com’s 100 Best Cities in the US (smaller cities) includes Westerville at number 46 and Gahanna at number 96.

Westerville - number 46 in the 100 Best Cities in the US

Gahanna - number 96 in the 100 Best Cities in the US

Columbus map with gridCongratulations Gahanna and Westerville!

Blacklick Estates   is on another CNNMoney.com list ”Best places to live,  Where homes are affordable”, this is a list of 25 homes, first in the list is a Cinci suburb, there’s at least one Cleveland suburb…

According to CNNMoney.com:

“Blacklick Estates provides a pastoral setting with good schools nearby and a number of activities within walking distance.”

I am not sure I knew that Blacklick Estates (down near Reynoldsburg and Brice?)  was a city.   I was there about a decade ago.  I believe I thought Blacklick Estates was a neighborhood. It’s not a city… according to Wikipedia:

“Blacklick Estates is an unincorporated census-designated place in Franklin County, partly in Madison Township and partly in Truro Township. As of the 2000 census, the population was 9,518.

The pricing provided by CNNMoney.com seems to be from Trulia, I can’t tell from the Trulia Map that pops up where Blacklick Estates is, it must be there among the houses marked in Pickerington, Reynoldburg, Brice etc. If you click on “Look for homes for sale”, Trulia pops up.

Median family income: $59,172
Median home price (2006): $83,480″

There are other Ohio cities … or maybe they are ”unincorporated census-designated places”  on the “Best places to live,  Where homes are affordable”  list.  Oh this is a list of e “places” not necessarily cities.  Bellevue Ohio looks gorgeous…

I work in Gahanna and Westerville.  I do not work in Blacklick Estates… too far away…

Mason near Cinci and  Twinsburg and at least one other Cleveland area suburbs are on the list of 100  Top Small Cities, as is Beavercreek near Dayton.

There is a list of the 10 Best Big Cities, Chicago, California Cities, Philadelphia ….Thanks to Kaye Thomas in Southern California for bringing the lists to my attention via a blog on ActiveRain.
