Indian Springs Elementary School attendance area

by Maureen McCabe on June 8, 2010

Excellent With Distinction

# 28 make that #30  of  ’365 Places to Live in Columbus Ohio’ ?  A schools attendance area as a place to live?  For parents being within a particular elementary, middle or high school’s attendance area is certainly a place to live.  # 28 #30 is Indian Springs Elementary School on Columbus ‘ north side.

Indian Springs  Elementary School is in the Columbus City School District, the largest school district in Central Ohio.  Doing some research for a client recently I discovered the home we were discussing is in the Indian Springs Elementary School attendence area for the 2010 -2011 school year, and was this year. Now this couple does not have children and I don’t have children but we were still interested in what schools a house went to.  We wondered about elementary school, middle school and high school… well the high school part was NOT really a big puzzle, I thought it would be Whetstone High School,  the home is in the Clintonville area… kinda… or the area north of Clintonville and south of Worthington.  The home in question is in the Indian Springs elementary school, Dominion Middle School and Whetstone High School attendence areas.

I will admit finding the  school  attendance areas for the 2010 2011 school year was a piece of cake with the internet.

I was vaguely aware of Indian Springs Elementary school... since it is in the Clintonville Beechwold area  I was happy to see the Indian Springs Elementary School website proclaim they got a good report card the last time around.  Actually a great report card.

Indian Springs Elementary School received an Excellent with Distinction “grade’ in the most recent results. I believe the results came out in 2009 for the 2008 – 2009 school year,

As school is letting out for the 2009 2010 school year… the report card for Indian Springs Elementary school is the one from 2007 2008 school year…  which came out right when school was ready to start up in 2009.

The Columbus City School District’s attendance area is on  their website on a page called Columbus City Schools Directories. The .pdf documents for  2009-2010 school year and the 2010 -2011 school year are huge.  There is a search at the very top put in a street name and it will open the page… usually.  It is slow. Again they are huge document.

There are other opportunities in the Columbus City School District, including magnet schools.

In many Central Ohio school districts school attendance areas change year to year, within the school district…   When it comes to purchasing a home you have to check directly with the school district and verify and re-verify if being in a particular school is important to you.  Know that changes in the population could cause the school district to change the schools a particular home within their district goes to.

* EDIT Link Broken in 2013 the content is still live on my other site but I have no more patience with fixing links.
