I miss my “smart phone”…  my loaner phone is a smart phone but nowhere near as smart.  It’s been over a week now.

The sign on High St. made me think of my phone.

There could hardly be ‘365 Things to do in Columbus Ohio’ in anyone weekend.  Could there?  I am not even going to try but here are some things happening in Central Ohio this weekend:

1.  Scioto Mile – The grand opening is tonight, Thursday, just in a few hours.  There’s ‘Rhythm on the River’…on Friday, this week  ‘Average White Band’ is at  the new Bicentennial Park Performing Arts Pavilion, according to the site.  Also ‘Movies on the Mile’ is Friday.  Friday 7 p.m. according to Experience Columbus “Movies on the Mile presents crowd pleasing box-office hits along with cinematic classics and family favorites. The movie series features fun, interactive family activities followed by an outdoor movie in Bicentennial Park. “ Despicable Me?  for Free?  More info on their site or the Experience Columbus site.

2. Waterfire with Shadowbox is Friday at Genoa Park.

3. Old cars…. The Good Guys Event is in town this weekend…  most of the weekend car event is at the Fair Grounds but just sitting along High Street can be a treat with the hot rods, custom and classic cars cruising around putting on a show.  Experience Columbus has lots more info…

4.  Columbus Commons… this  “Sunday is Family Funday”  according to Experience Columbus “Columbus Commons on the second Sunday of each month for free family programming and entertainment.”

5.  This weekend is the North Market Food & Ohio Wine Festival  you guessed it more information is available on Experience Columbus

• Saturday Farmer’s Markets including Worthington.
• Parking Lot Blowout 6 is SATURDAY!
• Sunday night concerts on the Scioto and the Worthington Green

The mural over the altar depicts saints.  St. Paul is there to the right of the crucifix.

Ohio’s Best High Schools on America’s High Schools according to Newsweek include Dublin and New Albany this year.

“Showing results 1 to 19 of 19″, in Ohio on the “America’s Best High Schools 2011″ on Newsweek.

The Newsweek list,   Ohio’s Best High Schools include all three Dublin high schools and New Albany:

Dublin Coffman at number 223

Dublin Jerome at number 109

Dublin Scioto at number 300

and New Albany (Plain Local Schools)  High School at number 266

No Olentangy high schools?  The Washington Post’s list of top high schools included all three high schools in the Olentangy Local School District. No Upper Arlington High?

Many schools on the Newsweek list are in the Cinci area, (some in suburbs, some of  the schools on the list actually say “Cincinnati?”  Wondering, are they in the Cincinnti school district?  )  twoon the Newsweek list are in the Dayton area, a number near Cleveland, one in the Canton area….

Again we say “favorite” in Columbus Ohio…  or most of us do,  I believe.

My favorite place to sit is where I can watch Columbus. OK? I like people watching.   There are lots of good places for people watching in Columbus.  May 7, 2011 a great place to sit would be a some locations in the Short North.   The Gallery Hop is a great place to sit and watch the people of Columbus.

May 21 Apron Gala at North Market could be interesting as  all the people will be wearing aprons.

Irish National Famine Memorial Day  “We invite you to join us and Irish people everywhere in commemorating the victims of An Gorta Mor on Sunday, May 15.”   People who look like they are of Irish Ancestry…  It’s like being in some Boston neighborhoods where everyone looks like my cousins…

This is a “Pirate Weekend” at the Santa Maria in Columbus. Fun for kids, good people watching?  Fun to see how the volunteers love to tell the history.   They’ll be dressed up as pirates.

Coming soon “lots of festivals coming up soon in Columbus… my favorites are the Dublin Irish Festival, the Italian Festival, The Columbus Arts Festival…”   great to find a place to sit and people watch at all of them.   Lots of places for ‘ Watching Columbus.’
