According to Buckeye Chuck spring is around the corner. Buckeye Chuck in Marion, Ohio did not see his shadow!

This may come as no surprise but I do have a Groundhog Day Board on Pinterest. The Real Living Groundhog Day ecard was the first image on that board.

Tree in a snow squall

The same oak tree in Delaware County less than a half hour later.

I wish I would have taken a photo of the tree against the dark sky an hour before the snow. At first the snow was not sticking. It seemed to be blowing straight east. A half hour later the snow was sticking on the ground and I could barely make out cars at the intersection just north west of the tree when I took the photo. I took the photo of the snow from inside and you can see a light fixture reflected in the glass. I opened the door and took another photo without the glass but this one is better even with the reflection of the office ceiling light. The blue sky photo I opened the door.

Happy Columbus Day 2011! The last Columbus Day? Ever? I recently read the world is going to end on October 21, 2011. Wasn’t the end of the world supposed to be last spring? I do not remember the date. Last May? but by some miscalculation the end of the world as we know it was really 10-21-2011?

On a CBS news link to a story with a video before the May date that the world was going to end, Bill Whitaker wrote of Reverend Harold Camping’s earlier prediction:

“The end of the world has been predicted more than 100 times in the last 100 years. In fact, Harold Camping predicted the end once before – in 1994. This time he says he’s certain.”

Columbus Dispatch

I guess it is “Ohio’s Greatest Home Newspaper” Columbus only newspaper. Well almost. The Columbus Business First article by Dan Eaton tells the story of local news change - Columbus Dispatch buys Columbus Monthly, the Other Paper and then some… The Columbus Dispatch owns both the Suburban News and the This Week News now. Both SNP and This Week News have a Dublin paper, a Hilliard paper, a Westerville paper, a Worthington paper… and others.

“Home” newspaper as in home town?

Personally I heard about it on Twitter.
