Mint Cookies & Cream

My office is right up the street from the  Graeter’s at 654 High St. Worthington.  Amazingly I have NOT been tempted to run over for ice cream everyday I am at the office.  I did do some Christmas shopping at Graeter’s in Old Worthington and I did  become a Sweet Rewards Member.  I get tempting emails now…  one I received in January told me about the seasonal flavors for 2012.    There is some mystery still though…

February’s  seasonal flavor is Mint Cookies & Cream … or Graeter’s introduced the Mint Cookies & Cream flavor in February 2012 and that seasonal flavor will be available in February and March of  20

Looks like Graeter’s will introduce another seasonal flavor at the beginning of March 2012.

It’s not like the Old Worthington ice cream parlor is the only Graeter’s in central Ohio.  In addition to the Worthington location, there’s Columbus locations at Easton and on Bethel Road as well as in Bexley, Dublin, Gahanna, Pickerington,  Powell, Upper Arlington, and Westerville.

Cherry Chocolate Chip!!

Our neighbor at 654 High St. Worthington is Graeter’s.  I’m proud to say I have NOT been tempted to run over for ice cream everyday I am at the office.  I did do some Christmas shopping at Graeter’s in Old Worthington and I did  become a Sweet Rewards Member at Graeter’s, so I got an email with their schedule for 12 seasonal flavors…  In fact I don’t think I have had Graeter’s Ice Cream since August when we moved in to our office in Old Worthington.  Maybe I will have to go try Graeter’s Cherry Chocolate Chip!

January’s seasonal flavor  is Cherry Chocolate Chip… or Graeter’s introduced Cherry Chocolate Chip in January and that seasonal flavor will be available in January and February, 2012.

Cherry Chocolate Chip sounds good to me.  Cherry ice cream with maraschino cherries and chocolate chips?  Or the typical chocolate chunks?

Yahoo finance says Columbus has no taste? Well I never…

Perhaps the statement “Columbus has no taste”  is not what the article is saying.  Perhaps that’s too harsh. The article says to readers around the world of Columbus tastes “Locals’ tastes aren’t too refined.”

Is having not too refined taste like Mikie in the old Life Cereal commercials?  Let Mikie try it.  Mikie will try anything?  The article in the Daily Ticker on Yahoo Finance provided by The Business Insider’s Karlee Weinmann and Aimee Groth gives 8 more reasons Columbus will try it.  “It”  being fast food”  Some of the eight reason for Columbus to be a good test market are pretty good reasons.

8 more reasons Columbus is the taste kitchen of the US:

  1. It’s a microcosm of the nation
  2. Major interstates pass through Columbus — which broadens the city’s consumer base
  3. It’s a college town — which means there are tons of young customers who are setting trends

  5. People in Columbus have jobs — and more money to spend
  6. Columbus is “younger, more educated and with a higher disposable income”

Jobs. Money.  Educated.  Young.   All good things for a test market?

Number one in the list quoted from Yahoo Finance is “It’s a microcosm of the nation” It being Columbus.  I thought Michael Wilkos got the word out… at least to Columbus that Columbus has changed.  Or as we changed are we still a microcosm of the United States as it changes?  Last year at TEDx Columbus, Wilkos’ talk was among my favorites. Perhaps for obvious reasons.

Aren’t  number 2 and number 8 contradictory?  Columbus has a broader base because we have major interstates coming through. Number two of the 8 more reasons Columbus is the taste kitchen of the US is that crossroads of America thing?   YET we are sitting out in the cornfield’s of Central Ohio NOT touching other markets (number 8 of  8 more reasons Columbus is the taste kitchen of the US.)

Nearly 20 fast food chains?  Really?  I got number one.  It took me awhile.  I almost forgot Wendy’s moved back to town. Or always was here, in Dublin but was owned by an evil food empire elsewhere for a few years.    Help me with number 3 through nearly 20 (that would be like 16 or 17 more fast food , huh?   Are Bob Evans and Max and Erma’s  “fast food?”  Now I know they are not fine dining but I do not think of those two as fast food. Do you? I thought there were things between fast food and fine dining.    Help!
