is wEirD Fiction

Village Bookshop in Linworth“I write like J. D. Salinger”

I know Salinger,  I mean I read ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ in high school.   What else is there to read… that is Salinger?   If you want to read something Salingeresque read my October 27, 2012 post on an event post really.   And no Salinger is not  wEirD fiction.  Holden Caufield was odd… Salinger was reclusive but not necessarily weird.

A real estate agent in Atlanta shared “it” on Facebook.  It’s a widget.  I am a sucker for this sort of thing.  She posted that she wrote like

It got weird when I shared a post on and another post from  they were like H. P. Lovecraft.

I had never heard of H. P. Lovecraft but the site stuck with that:

“I write like
H. P. Lovecraft “

Through a number of posts on both sites.   I Googled H. P. Lovecraft and Google handed me off to Wikipedia

“Howard Phillips Lovecraft — known as H. P. Lovecraft — was an American author of horror, fantasy and science fiction, especially the subgenre known as weird fiction. ” - Wikipedia

No wonder, I have not heard of Lovecraft.  I don’t like fantasy or science fiction… or I don’t read them.  Never read them, on purpose anyway.  I am always surprised how much I like fantasy and science fiction when I stumble onto it. Horror I am not as adverse to. I prefer supernatural horror though… and an occasional zombie. Zombies are just fun.

Looking at a piece from my Delaware County Ohio real estate site, the widget says:

I write like
Chuck Palahniuk

Who?  Google.  Wikipedia

” Charles Michael “Chuck” Palahniuk is an American novelist and freelance journalist, who describes his work as transgressional fiction. He is best known as the author of the award-winning novel Fight Club, which also was made into a feature film.”  – Wikipedia

I was going to call this post Maureen McCabe’s Writing is  Transgressional Fiction  but then again maybe the body of my writing is wEirD, transgressional non Fiction.  Back in July 2006  I wrote like Cory Doctorow.  Looking at one piece on my very first site, the doo hickey tells me:

“I write like
Cory Doctorow”

I know Cory Doctorow but still I Google… Wikipedia.  Voila

Cory Efram Doctorow is a Canadian-British blogger, journalist, and science fiction author who serves as co-editor of the weblog Boing Boing. is just a blog. Food, things to do, real estate but not a lot of fiction.

The image is a bookshop in central Ohio, in Linworth.  They probably have some weird fiction.

Just in case you want to see who you write like, the site link is

“Check which famous writer you write like with this statistical analysis tool, which analyzes your word choice and writing style and compares them with those of the famous writers.”
