Buckeyes vs. LSU – a Twitter

by Maureen McCabe on January 8, 2008

Paul Chaney pchaney @MaureenMcCabe – I didn’t want to gloat, but, well, I can’t help it. (And, yes, I do know there’s another half to play.)

buckeyesPaul Chaney is a web 2.0 guru who lives in Louisiana. Above is a “Tweet” or a “Twitter” from this LSU fan. Paul does not always use the pretty tiger photo on Twitter. I used buckeyes as MY picture on Twitter yesterday. Central Ohio people (and former Central Ohio people) had Brutus Buckeye and Block Os and all manner of OSU pictures yesterday to show which side they were on.

I was watching the game…. or maybe asleep on the couch by half time so not subject to Paul Chaney’s gloating… via Twitter… in real time… I woke up and went back to a different photo on Twitter.

Columbusites are you on Twitter? Do you like Twitter? There is not always a lot of gloating…. you can be if the shoe was on the other foot…

I’ve been goofing around with it in a funny way. I use jott.com which takes a phone call from me, converts it to text, then relays it to twitter. I put a twitter widget to catch the stream on the top of my sidebar. This way, when I can’t blog from work, I can put up some notes. No real purpose, just fun.

I have Jott too. I Jotted to Twitter once or twice no problem and then for weeks it was messed up and I’d get error messages. I undid it and redid it and it works.

Someone said “Charlottesville” in a Jott to Twitter and Jott Twittered “Shodesville” last weekend. I assumed Shodesville was a suburb of Charlottesville VA until someone nearby who knew there is no Shodesville in VA Twittered about it.

I can blog via phone to my Discover Columbus Blog but I have not in a long time.

The Twitter RSS feed is a gaping hole. I thought moving my twitters private would protect me. anyone I comment to can have my twitters displayed in Terraminds.com

I had moved over to Twitter to avoid Active Rain because of bullying. I am probably done with both forums, now. I’m a blogger without a home. Looks like I’ll just read people like you in my google reader from now on.

Chris were you a Twitter that was “protected” You have to approve who can read your Twitters? I think the word is protected. Yet Terraminds picks up your Twitter feed?

I like Terraminds for finding things, are you saying that I can find things on Twitter feeds that are protected there? Twitter should fix that with Terraminds, I know they are separate but if feeds are protected they should not show up in Terraminds.

I think between Rich J. and Bob the enforcer they will get the bullying situation on ActiveRain straightened out.

I am writing my social media plan on this blog thanks to Bob Carney’s example now…

My plan…

Facebook – never throw a sheep. Duck so not to be hit by flying sheep

MySpace… put something on the profile for petes sake! Or don’t.

WannaNetwork – avoid even acknowledging the network to avoid the spam… starting up again.

Naymz – ignore

UPworld? – ignore

RealtyWorld – ignore

Maureen, you are a good sport. Just so you’ll know, I’ve now removed Mike the Tiger (LSU’s famed mascot) as my avatar. Back to yet another rendition of my ugly mug. :-)

Paul I saw you were no longer a tiger. I am really a Badger (from Wisconsin, UW grad) so I am a fair weather Buckeye at best…

I used the nuts as my avatar because somehow an image of a block O or Brutus Buckeye would seem sacrereligious… I can’t spell that.. it would just be wrong as a Badger.
